Dark Age’s core rulebook was never intended to be in early access for long. I’ve been working on the game system itself for years, but principle development of Dark Age began in early October 2024.

The goal then was to release it for early access before christmas - which I did! And then to have the final art and content in by January 31st 2025. There will likely be continued updates thereafter as I find things I want to improve on as I continue to play the game, but that it expected to be the 1.0 version release date.

That said, there is a lot going on in the world and I am giving myself permission to push it of by a few weeks - but only if necessary for a solid final product.

In the meantime I will continue to run sessions with playtesters to help test the system and inspire me.

I also intend to visit a couple gaming conventions this year to help promote the release. The challenge I’ve noticed in doing that is that most moderate or large conventions require 5-9 months advance registration for exhibitors as well as fees up to the multiple thousands before even figuring in travel and hotels. That’s not realistic for me at this point. However, there are still many conventions where running games has a low or no cost. So I am looking into running a few games at conventions starting perhaps as early as February!

Some time after the 1.0 release here on Itch, it will also be made available for print on demand on the big RPG site.
